July 3, 2007 - Shenandoah Caverns and American Celebration on Parade

Today we took a tour of Shenandoah Caverns and American Celebration on Parade where we saw floats from the Rose parade, Presidential Inaugurals, Thanksgiving parades as well as other prestigious parades. Sophia enjoyed pressing the buttons to see the animation on the different floats and she really liked going in "the cave" (aka caverns). It was funny to watch her walking through because daddy and mommy would have to bend over to walk through some low areas .... so needless to say, Sophia would also bend over to avoid those same low areas. Too funny! At one point when we were far, far down in the caverns they turn out the lights and it was pitch dark down there....Sophia immediately said, "Hey, I can't see?"

Mainstreet of Yesteryear
In the days before television, it was a tradition in many families to walk down Main Street to see the window displays at Christmas, Easter and other holidays. These displays often included animated figures bringing to life the fantasies that live in the minds of children of all ages. The move away from downtown shopping districts and the rise of windowless malls contributed to the decline of the holiday window display tradition.
