1st Annual Children's Day Celebration
The International Children's Day (ICD) is celebrated in numerous countries, usually (but not always) on June 1 each year. The first ever celebrated ICD was during the World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925. That year, the Chinese consul-general in San Francisco gathered a number of Chinese orphans to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. That year, the Festival happened to be on June 1st, and also coincided with the conference in Geneva.
In the People's Republic of China, Children's Day is celebrated on June 1 and is formally known as "The June 1st International Children's Day".
